Elie Habib is the Co-founder of Anghami, the first most established, and fastest-growing music technology platform in the Middle East and North Africa region. Together with his partner Eddy Maroun, they launched the platform in late 2012, taking advantage of the lack of proper digital music service. Anghami has since reached over 80 million users and streams close to 1 billion songs every month. Elie oversees operations and product development at Anghami, working mainly on cloud, stream, and pixel technologies. Prior to Anghami, he co-founded PowerMeMobile, a mobile messaging gateway provider, and was the CTO of one of the first portals in the Middle East, Naharnet.com. Elie founded his first company immediately after completing his BS in Computer Science from LAU in 1994. Anghami has successfully raised over $30M from VCs and partnered with MBC, the top media group in the region, to raise digital awareness.
Elie Habib has been honored with several awards for his outstanding contributions to the tech industry and entrepreneurship. He was recognized as a high-impact entrepreneur by Endeavor Lebanon in 2011, featured in Forbes Middle East’s “30 Under 30” list in 2014, and listed as one of the “Arabian Business 100 most powerful Arabs under 40” in 2015. He was awarded a “Young Global Leader” by the World Economic Forum in 2018, named one of the “Top 50 Most Innovative Arabs” by Arabian Business magazine in 2019, and in 2022, Gulf Business included him on their “Top 100 Most Powerful Arabs” list. Furthermore, he was honored as one of the “100 Most Influential Arabs” in 2023 by Arabian Business and was recognized and awarded by Fast Company Middle East at “Most Creative People in Business 2023” awards for “Rewriting The Rules”.
In November 2023, OSN+ and Anghami announced their merger, creating a powerhouse in the digital entertainment industry. Elie Habib, as Co-founder and CTO of Anghami, played a crucial role in the merger process, leveraging his technical expertise and leadership to facilitate the integration of technology platforms and strategic planning for the combined entity. Working alongside Joe Kawkabani, CEO of OSN Group, the merger aims to harness OSN’s expertise in video streaming and Anghami’s leading position in music streaming, offering consumers a comprehensive entertainment experience. Once the merger is official, Elie will lead the entity as CEO, guiding it into its next phase of growth and innovation.
